      PREVIOUS MINUTES

FIRST: Barry Jackson SECONDED: Lia Kuhn
All in favour: Carried

BUSINESS ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MINUTES:

· With the next Street Meet most spectators are happy to pay $5 or gold coin donation as entry fee for spectators and most of the drivers that Mandy spoke with are happy to pay $10-$20 for licenses to race their mates.

· Peter Datson advised the club that the financial books are currently being audited.

· Barry Jackson still needs to get race dates to Phil Stone of the Whyalla Tourism Office.

· It was asked if the Armco got fixed and yes Rodger Weste welded the Armco on Friday 11th January.

· We need to make sure the beer booth has lights as at the Jan 12th Race Meet it was operating in the dark. This needs to be plugged in with the urn and Cold room to a portable lighting tower or generator; this will help to stop tripping the power.

ACTION: We need to get an extra Gen Set for the Tri-Series to be able to plug in the Beer Booth, Urn, and Cold Room, and an extra lighting tower for the toilets behind the canteen and car park.

· We need to address the check list for race meets, as this will help with the set up and clean up of all the facilities. This will also help to see if we are missing any equipment that should be at the track.

ACTION: Mandy has several checklists, she will type them up and send them to all the committee to see what has been missed or may need updating.

NEW BUSINESS:

· We have been informed that one of the flood lights is out and needs to be fixed before the tri-series.

ACTION: Peter Jackson to take care of this.

· Working bee needed 1st March. Mow weeds, weed spray and if we have on a Saturday we can have the work for the dole participants in attendance. Peter D is going to organize some equipment from Martelco. We also need a gate in opposite the return road booth, but this cannot be done until we put a pole in along the top of the fence.

· We were informed that the speaker under the Ambo shelter is not working, this needs to be working so they can hear what is happening. This has been put on the list for jobs to be done at the working bee.

· Jim Higgins has organized an air conditioner for the canteen free of charge from the old Whyalla Hotel. Jim will need help to get it down and he will organize the equipment needed to get it down. Jim was advised just to notify anyone that he needs of when he will require their help.

· We need to lay some concrete to the toilets and also under the tank; some help will be required to do this. Peter Datson is looking into organizing this.

· It was suggested that we move all the equipment that has been getting stored in the toilets into the container at the track. This was actually done at the clean up after the Street Meet on Jan 18th . All equipment that was for the canteen is now in the canteen and the rest is now in the container.

· Ron Matthews got a carton of beer from the club for Sherrins Hire for filling our water tanks.

· Ron has got a sponsor that may help with the next Street Meet. He will get back to us on this.

· Peter Jackson told the club that Portland South Coast Race Way is certainly worth a look if you are ever over that way.

· It was suggested that we try and get some people to go to Alice Springs to support them at the Easter Weekend.

This would be a fantastic club trip and a great way to support the guys that traveled all the way from Alice Springs to Whyalla.

· There will be a Club Display at Motor Show on Saturday 16th February, anyone wanting to display their cars give Peter Datson a ring.

· Mandy to print an A5 flyer for the Tri-Series to hand out at the Motor show and Membership forms.

· Peter Datson again said a big thanks to Tracy, Kaylee, and Mandy for top effort for past two meetings. Also a top effort put in by everyone, he is pleased with what everyone does.

· Mandy went around with donation tin at the Street Meet and collected over $600 and all the lights at start line were working well.

· Street meet on Jan 18th caught us by surprise and was a huge learning curve for the club and the canteen sold out. Peter again thanked everyone for their efforts and was very pleased with how it turned out,

ACTION: It was discussed that we need to have the drivers briefing as this will stop a lot of the drivers doing burnouts and speeding as they are not aware of the rules. The spectators also need to be made aware of the no alcohol in pits; this can be rectified by having someone on the pit gate as in normal race meets.

It was also suggested that maybe hold the next on a Saturday to allow more time for Scrutineering and have set cut off times. Also need to have the drivers briefing and we may have to look at paying canteen crews for this as well since there was only 4 people in the canteen. To be discussed further prior to next Street Meet.

· Robert priced up some shade sails for the spectator mound and will get back to us in regards to prices.

· It was discussed about ladies toilets not being able to keep up with the usage as the ladies will not use the portable toilets.

ACTION: We will see if we can get ATCO toilet block this time to try and get the ladies to use these and this may help with overflow of ladies toilet.

· There were concerns that some cars are running slicks and that they may be too fast for the street Car Challenge Bracket and should be moved to the Super Street Bracket. This was discussed and they can run slicks if slower than 7 seconds.
